Thanks Harvest Hope!

Harvest Hope Food Bank has awarded a $10,000 grant to be shared by food pantries in Marlboro County and used to purchase and distribute food to families who were adversely affected by Hurricane Florence. Food pantries receiving grants include (Bread of Life, Level Green UMC, McColl Pentecostal Church, Sandy Grove Baptist Church, and Word of Life Christian Ministries.

These food pantries will announce specific plans for distribution however food recipients must live in the county and be able to document damages to their homes, or loss of income from storm related unemployment.

The community also received a donation of one hundred food boxes which were distributed earlier this week by church members of Cedar Falls Baptist, Macedonia Baptist, Pleasant Hill Baptist, Sandy Grove Baptist, St. Mark Baptist-Marlboro, and Trinity UMC.

County Council Chairman Dr. Carolyn Prince commented “We are very fortunate and appreciative that our food pantries received this grant from Harvest Hope in addition to the one hundred boxes of food they donated for elderly, disabled and shut-in residents”.

Harvest Hope is a statewide organization formed in 1981 whose mission is “to provide for the needs of hungry people by gathering and sharing quality food with dignity, compassion and education”. The organization has continued to increase the scope of its operations and now provides “food, comfort and hope to hungry individuals and families in the Midlands, Pee Dee and Greater Greenville regions of South Carolina.”Harvest Hope
