The U.S. Small Business Administration has opened a Business Recovery Center in Marlboro County on September 27, 2018 at noon to help businesses impacted by Hurricane Florence. A SBA representative is available to provide information about disaster loans, answer questions and assist businesses in completing the SBA application. You may visit this center at the Marlboro County Economic Development Partnership Office at 214 East Market Street, Bennettsville, SC beginning September 27 at noon and weekdays 8:30 am - 5 pm. The E-911/Communications Center is staffed twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week. It is located is a secure area non-accessible to the public. The Public is requested to call the office prior to any type of visitation or meeting with the E-911 Director to make arrangements. Steve Akers became the Director of E911 and Emergency Management for the county in July 2016. He comes to the position after 20 years in Law Enforcement; most recently as a Lieutenant at the Sheriff’s Office. In that capacity he served as grant writer, training officer, patrol shift supervisor and various other duties. Prior to that, he served in the Navy for 12 years as a Cryptologic Technician. Steve is from Clio.
