Delorice B. Barrington - Treasurer

Barrington PhotoDelorice B. Barrington has served as the Marlboro County Treasurer since 1997.  She is married to Jerry Barrington, they have three children and one grandson and granddaughter.  She is a member of Salem Baptist Church and enjoys singing with the choir.

In a local news article, Delorice stated she values education and has worked hard to learn the laws and continually update the treasurer's office with new technology.  The treasurer's office lauched a new online tax web site www.marlborocountytax.com in 2010.  The site is an innovative new way in which the treasurer's office would help taxpayers, realtors, mortgage companies and banks better serve the community.  The site allows customers to pay by credit card online and allow customers to pay their tax payments after regular business hours.  This site is a dynamic way of accessing important tax information online by Marlboro County citizens and those who do business in Marlboro County.  Mrs. Barrington has implemented issuing vehicle decals in-hand to customers when paying their taxes, eliminating the need for the decals to be mailed to them.

Mrs. Barrington has an associate degree in general business, is certified in supervisory management, and has graduated from financing and investing classes offered through the University of South Carolina.  Prior to assuming the Treasurer's position, she served as Marlboro County Auditor for ten years.
